The Way of the Dragon and The Way of the Lamb

Day 5

Day 5 finishes up with the core secret to the poser of the lamb, it is in today’s verse, James 4:7, check it out…

Devotional Point 4 today:

Prayerfulness, silence, and recollection allow us to stand under the Word in truth

Scripture 4 today:

“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” ‭‭James‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

What we have here is one of the best and most focused promises of God. I want to use this going forward as the starting place for all of my devotions and quiet times with Him. When I think back through all the various difficulties I have had in developing as a Christian, most of them revolve around the distractions of business and my daily life. The concept of “coming near to God“ is something that is dreadfully lacking in the church today especially as a focus each and every day. it is certainly a suitable way to conclude our look at living under the power of the Dragon or the power of the Lamb…

Question for the day: what do you need to change to draw closer to God today?

Other Notes: Hope you have enjoyed these last few days looking at the Power in the world we live in. Where it comes from and what use it has… Tomorrow we will start a week long series on “Curious Faith”

Day 4

Day 4 of the Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb digs into our need to take the log out of our own eyes before worrying about the splinters in others…

Devotional Point 4 today:

…toxic power should never be able to take hold among the people of God…

Scripture 4 today:

“For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.” ‭‭Titus‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

We are surrounded by all sorts of false preaching in churches, fortunately not most of the ones we are part of.  Paul identified the primary areas of deviation from the faith, and those are pretty much what we see today. Paul lays out the criteria for leadership early in this chapter, and it all revolves around disciplined humility. Crete then was a very advanced civilisation, and it was relatively easy for some of those in the “faith” to take advantage of the others. Taking a solid look at yourself requires disciplined humility, endless quantities of disciplined humility…

Question for the day: What will it take for you to fully develop disciplined humility?

Day 3

Day 3 digs into the sorry state of much of the church today, the fact that we fail to realise that Satan is very real and very much part of the world we live in…

Devotional Point 4 today:

…we often fail to see the powers and principalities as evil…

Scripture 4 today:

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

Sometimes we forget that there is anything in the world to be overcome, that there is an evil that permeates every part of the life we live that does indeed need overcoming. We think today that a great victory has been secured in places like Texas where abortions cannot happen after 6 weeks, but by no means has that stopped abortions. We have this false sense of security that we can use the rules and laws of this world to knock him back, but it is all about what is in our hearts… We need a total change of heart, that is what total transformation brings…

Question for the day: How have you seen the temptation to compromise affect your faith this last week?

Day 2

Day 2 of the ways of the Dragon and Lamb digs into the underlying issue of our growth as Christians. If you love the world, you can’t love God, just that simple…

Devotional Point 4 today:

…for those in him there is now no condemnation…

Scripture 4 today:

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

John didn’t say we are not to like the world or get along in the world or be in the world. To reach the world you need to be in the world. But not to love the world, not to take on its morals or ethics or core beliefs. The world and its beliefs can never deliver anyone out of the bondage of sin, the enslavement to self, or the obsession to dominate and be better than others. Success in the world’s eyes is 99% based on comparison with others, “I’m better than them”… But this bears no resemblance to the life we receive from the love of Jesus in our lives…

Question for the day: what is the world you live in today trying to get you to love about itself?

Day 1

Day 1 of the Way of the Dragon and Way of the Lamb, it is all about the power from above…

Devotional Point 4 today:

The way from above is power from God

Scripture 4 today:

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” ‭‭John‬ ‭15:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

The symbol and grapes and vines is the very symbol of Israel, even to this day. It is the clear picture of our lives… We either are totally plugged ion to the vine, or we have no life, it is simply binary: it is there or it isn’t… There are dozens of other temporary sources of power, and you don’t have to look far to find them, they come to you. But they are short-term and they suck life out not breathe life in. We lived in a time of great upheaval where bing plugged into God’s power is the only way forward, it makes us stand out as we are not dependent on the world for energy.

Question for the day: What practical change do you need to take today to get fully plugged into God’s power source?
