Day 4
Devotional Point 4 today:
…you’re a transformation agent…
Scripture 4 today:
““You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14 NIV
Reflection 4 today:
This pronouncement comes right at the beginning of a Jesus ministry, where He sort of “lays down the ground rules” for life to come. And He doesn’t say that any specific part of our lives are the light of the world, not specifically what we say or do or anything else… Traditionally the church has beat its people up with the concept of evangelism, that they should be speaking the word at all times to be the “light” Jesus talks about here, but that is not what Jesus says. Your whole life has got to be a light, everything you do and how you do it…
Question for the day:
Have you thought and prayed about, as well as written down, what you desire to see in terms of the transformational impact (for others as well as yourself) of your business? I am learning that transformational impact takes place one person at a time, seeing that has been key for me…
Other Notes: I hope that everyone liked this 4 day plan about being Kingdom Driven, these guys have a second 5-day plan which we will start tomorrow, looking forward to sharing around these excellent principles…
Day 3
Coming to the end of my last full week in America for the month, and we are headed to Indiana for the weekend, about 3 hours away to celebrate Janet and Erin’s birthdays!! Incredible focus on the whole idea of humility in today’s devotional, unfortunately something we see little of in the church today. Load of false humility but not much of the real thing… My notes:
Devotional Point 4 today:
…experiencing God’s best means allowing promotion to come from the Lord and His timing…
Scripture 4 today:
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV
Reflection 4 today:
Humbling yourself is not about artificially “taking yourself down“, it is all about your total dependence on God. He does indeed have a very mighty hand and is able to lift a great number of things up. This has great application for me right now, because I have an incredible amount of anxiety that the church right now is going to go straight back to what it was doing wrong before the pandemic and has learned nothing. That is probably the case for about 50% of them, but the other 50% are the groups I need to focus on in the development of digital ministries. Despite the amount of information and data, people are very slow to change, even denying the truth of the data. However, God has a plan and he will burn away the things that don’t matter…
Question for the day:
1. In what areas of business, if any, have I been striving and trying to force things to happen with my own strength? I have spent an entire lifetime being the chief “striver” out there, that is all behind me and life is incredible now…
2. How have I recently seen the favor of God in my business, either in a small way or large way? He has made our Airbnb business literally explode, and I give Him all the credit…
Day 2
We are on Day 2 of becoming a Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur. Turns out everyone is an entrepreneur at some level, so really worth a few days look at the whole thing. Video a bit later this morning…
Devotional Point 4 today:
Faith + Obedience = Success
Scripture 4 today:
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8 NIV
Reflection 4 today:
This is one of the few places in the Bible where definitive directions are given for success. As it was for Joshua several thousand years ago, it is for us today… He was directed to know it, talk about it, meditate on it, and do it. 4 simple steps, but each one rather life-consuming. Post Jesus being here, we have been left with 49 commands from Him, if we can master these, then we can be pretty sure of success. Kingdom driven entrepreneurs are focused on the p[rocess as much as the product, this is always God’s plan…
Question for the day:
1. Are you following someone else’s blueprint for your business? Have you spent time with God seeking His blueprint for your business? He may only illuminate a small part of the picture, but don’t discount that small beginning. Gods wants our hearts, and the process of getting it and growing it is what God wants, understanding that can take us a very long way…
2. Is there something God has instructed you to do (or not do) in your business which you have ignored and need to move forward on? Sometimes it is hard to know exactly what He is saying, but once I get it, I run with it…
Day 1
Devotional Point 4 today:
…you can be driven or led by a variety of things…
Scripture 4 today:
““I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NIV
Reflection 4 today:
The vine was the national symbol of Israel, and was more often than not an example of what had gone horribly wrong in the history or God’s people, not so much what had gone right. On the occasions when it did go right, it was because they were totally attached to the “vine”. When we are attached to the vine, we bear “much fruit”, which begs the question what exactly is this “much fruit”? The church has traditionally said it was converts, but that is both reductionist and narrow. The concept of much fruit is something we can do in a big way. Converts yes, but also all the components of life that our world desperately needs: identity, belonging, purpose, jobs, families, education, discipleship, community, and a whole lot of other things that are the real components of life…
Question for the day: what are you doing to ensure that you are plugged into the vine today and what fruit is it bearing???
