Good Ideas vs. God Ideas

  • by

Day 5

Day 5, what a way to conclude this look at Good Ideas and God Ideas. The source of it all is God’s Word in our hearts and lives. There is nothing more important than this for us today and every day…

Devotional Point 4 today:

God ideas can be revealed through prayer, silence, and even in worship.

Scripture 4 today:

“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

God’s plan for the nation of Israel is pretty much a parallel with our own lives. Civilisations to the north and south or had big rivers to sustain life for them. Israel had to depend 100% on the rain from the heavens to sustain its life, and this concept of the rain features throughout the old Testament. today, the “rain“ is God’s word. Without it, we have no life, no good ideas, and no future. With it, we have everything. It goes out and accomplishes God’s purposes where ever it goes. We have in our “hands“ one of the most powerful forces in the universe. There is nothing more important today than this…

Question for the day: is there anything more important today for you than your time in God’s word? Why would that be? And what can you do about it?

Other Notes: I hope you have enjoyed our 5 days of looking at good ideas and God ideas, tomorrow we will be moving on to Rick Warren’s last study on “Faith”, invites later today…

Day 4

Day 4 sees us looking at one of the most important component of a God idea: he does the heavy lifting in the battle. Not all the lifting, just the heavy lifting.

Devotional Point 4 today:

Often times we limit God to be a mere man when He’s anything but.

Scripture 4 today:

“But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

This is the story of a very famous fight, and parallels my experience very closely. When I am in a battle and fight with all my might, I only win about 50% of the time. However, in my two most notable court battles I literally said nothing except my name and won bigger then I could imagine. My preparation was immense, I was ready for the battle of my life, but He took over all the fighting part. It helps to be in a battle that it’s not just slightly more difficult than what you are capable of, but probably 10 times more difficult. In that place, you have no choice but to trust God 100%. And when you see His victory in that, you praise him 1000%

Question for the day: what are you dealing with today that requires total domination by God?

Question today, why read the Bible?

Day 3

Day 3 cuts to the core of where God ideas come from and get developed and then executed: the incredible power He has placed in us when we accept Him as our personal saviour. My notes:

Devotional Point 4 today:

…God’s best will be bigger than your abilities…

Scripture 4 today:

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

Another verse that the Western Church would prefer were deleted from the Bible. What God does, He does through the mighty power He has placed in us. Not through a group of people who meet in a particular building at a particular time and who have a long list of reasons why they hold to their version of ultimate truth about all that God is doing or might do. He is well capable of accomplishing way more than we could even imagine accomplishing, and all through the power He has placed in us. All God ideas come from the “infinitely more” perspective He has for us.

Question for the day: What is He accomplishing through you right now that is way more than you could imagine?

Day 2

Day 2 makes a pretty simple point, submit to those who are governing authorities. Easy to understand, rejected by so many in the church of various grounds too numerous to mention. No idea that is going agains the governing authorities will survive…

Devotional Point 4 today:

…glorifying God comes before profitability…

Scripture 4 today:

“Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

The church and governing authorities have been at odds for most of recorded history. The concept of authorities who actually do governing is something that is worth considering. There are loads of authorities who should be governing but aren’t. Here in the west, almost all the authorities we are subjected to do govern. We are not commanded to like what they do, but we are commanded to submit to what they say. Because of the Covid, this topic is hotter than ever. In every country, laws have loopholes. But the bigger point here is that our ideas cannot directly oppose the you “state“ if they are to be honoured by God…

Question for the day: how can our honouring of what the state requires right now be an important part of our testimony?

Day 1

Day 1, Good Ideas vs. God Ideas… Starting anything is always a great thing, but starting to look at how we can better have “God Ideas” rather than just our own sort of “Good Ideas” is an awesome experience. Have a great Spirit led day!!!

Devotional Point 4 today:

You are not graced for someone else’s path.

Scripture 4 today:

“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

In these verses in Galatians, we see the words “walking“ used a couple of times. In English they are the same, but not in the Greek. The first “walking“ is all about taking steps as we would normally take them. The second one refers to a highly focused and directed set of steps, all being done by Holy Spirit. The important thing however is that we are the ones to have to actually do the walking. The spirit is power, and we open ourselves up to their power through faith. The more we respond to the word of God with faith and trust, the more the spirit is poured out to us and then the more we understand about what steps to take today.

Question for the day: what do you need to have faith in today to direct your steps?
