Decisions; Morning Minute 07.28-08.03 2021

Day 7

Devotional Point 4 today:

…God’s Word encourages us to wholly lean on him rather than give in to worry and hopelessness…

Scripture 4 today:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

We live in a world of anxious, and it is not getting any better. particularly at this moment in time where the world is trying to figure out how to come out of this pandemic. If you are anxious for nothing, you will be the only person that every person you meet today who is. Just by showing up you are a great testimony to what God is going. This world around us would give everything to have what God gives us every day, so decide to accept it and live in it…

Question for the day: What do you need to “give over” to God to stop being anxious today?

Day 6

Devotional Point 4 today:

…get advice and do the right thing…

Scripture 4 today:

“A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:2-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

These verses cut to the heart of the matter. We live in a world that invests a lot of time and money to get to the “heart” motivation of people within the context of various situations through various psychometric testing and a bunch of other means. We live in a world that knows that actions stem from what is in the heart, and that if we can understand that then we can get people to change. But God works very differently than us, He knows what is on the heart is desperately evil, and can only be changed by Him. Today, let him…

Question for the day: what to do you think God needs to change in my heart today? And how can I help others with this???

Day 5

Devotional Point 4 today:

Cultural norms are difficult to bypass.

Scripture 4 today:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

This is one of my most favourite verses ever, some thing I think about daily. But I have always been puzzled but he second part about testing and approving what God’s will is. I’ve always given this a skip, because why would I want to either test or approve what God’s will is? Maybe it is the testing process that we all go through on information to ensure that it is what it says it is. Our cultural norms don’t have any room for either God or His will, but when you test something and find it is true, then you have total faith and conviction about it…

Question for the day: What are you doing today to renew your mind? And how do you help others with this?

Day 4

Devotional Point 4 today:

…when our go-to response to crises is prayer and meditation on God’s Word, we are more likely to find just what’s needed

Scripture 4 today:

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:105‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

We need light in 2 areas: the “next step”, and the “path”. On a dark path, the “next step” is pretty urgent, because you can become disoriented and you might twist your ankle on a portuding stone. So, we need a lamp for all the “next steps” we need to take today. But each next step has to be part of a path, or we soon gets distracted and lose commitment.  So, we need both things to stay within what God wants for us, the vision for each step and the vision for the journey and the path…

Question for the day: how is the Word lighting your next steps and your path today? Check out the Amy Grant video he references:

Day 3

Devotional Point 4 today:

…a repentant heart can ready us to receive needed guidance…

Scripture 4 today:

“Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.” Psalms‬ ‭25:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

Good times and bad times come and go, but the depth of our sin nature and capacity to sin are never gone. The only way past it is a repentant heart, one that “fears” God. That word is used in the Hebrew slightly different than what we might call it. It is overarching profound respect that causes us to focus totally on what He wants to do through us with His great love for us. He wants us to prosper, He wants us to be the very best we can be, but only in His service. The moment-by-moment reality is from a repentant heart on our parts…

Question for the day: what adjustments fo you need to take to approach HIm today with a repentant heart? And how can you help those who you love do the same?

Day 2

Devotional Point 4 today:

…pray for wisdom…

Scripture 4 today:

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” James‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

As you progress through life, you learn to seek answers to issues in context of the issue and what others have done before on things similar. We learn to solicit multiple soureces of information. Howver, that is not God’s way. When we seek wisdom on dealing with a situation, if it is to be one piece of information amongst many pieces, then forget, you won’t get anything from Him. He may show you in His word how many others dealt with something similar, but His direction to you will end up being straightforward and direct and pure and actually what you need to do…

Question for the day: How can you get to a place where you are seeking wisdom His way and not your way? And how can you help others do the same???

Day 1

Devotional Point 4 today:

…Whatever decision we need to make, God’s Word is a reliable source to guide us toward decisions that will bear good fruit in our lives…

Scripture 4 today:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Reflection 4 today:

These are the most famous words in all of the Proverbs, and the Hebrew word for “trust” is actually from an Arabic word which means to throw yourself down prostrate to complete reliance on somone or some thing. That someone of course is our God. Our understanding comes from our limited 5 senses and aggregate experience which is miniscule compared to God’s, so what would be the point of relying on yourself for what you don’t have, and probably won’t ever have??? There is nothing too small or too large to not seek His wisdom in…

Question for the day:

God, you are phenomenally wise and competent, my wisdom and experience could not ever approach what You are waiting to give me, so I trust you to help me make the right decision about each and every relationship choice today.

Other Notes: Hope you liked this 3rd devotional from Rick Warren on faith, parts of it spoke to me every day. We are going to move to a new 7-day journey on Decision Making, something that will benefit us all…
