Tournez-a-Droit

Tournez-a-Droit, or the big right turn…
The big right turn came when I finally realised that the woman I had given “everything” to, had reached out and taken control of absolutely everything. However, there were a couple smaller “right turns” that came along first. After my left turn(s), I essentially spent 20 years in the Catholic Church. I loved the routine of it, and they didn’t ask many questions, as long as you put money in the offering envelope everyone was happy, or at least I thought…

In 2002, I had the good fortune at encountering Enda Devine, who became one of my closest friends. He was a “Charismatic Catholic”, who was totally committed to full role and experience of the Holy Spirit in all parts of life. He fully re-introduced to faith in Christ. He was (and still is) as fervent and full of the power of the Holy Spirit as any Pentecostal Protestant could ever hope to be.

As Enda got more and more involved in bigger projects, I migrated over to an Australian church of Pentecostals called Hillsong. So, when I took the full force “right turn” in 2006, it was played out from then on at Hillsong. After the Hillsong conference in 2009, a guy from the US came to speak at the Hillsong Surrey campus, named Craig Groeschel. he has gone on to considerable international notoriety since then, but back then he was just another American preacher with a very hot set of topics…  His church is called Life Church, and it has now gone on to be the largest church in the world, at least partially because of the fact that a lot of it is over the internet. Craig had also just launched (in 2009) the Bible App, called YouVersion when I met him in 2009. I immediately uploaded it to my Blackberry and got on with it…

A couple of years ago I started helping on the hosting of the live services on the internet, and now am heavily involved in it. The central draw for me is the commitment to developing “fully devoted followers of Christ”…  As we are spending most of our time here in the US, it will continue to be a big part of my life. We are looking now into some local churches, will see how that plays out…
