Devotional Point 4 today: Maximum Joy comes about when we are living an abundant life.
Scripture 4 today: “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:3 NIV
Reflection 4 today: we have seen in the series that “fellowship“ starts with our relationship with Jesus is the centrepoint of our lives, and works out from there. We “can“ how fellowship with other Christians because of intimate and personal relationship with Jesus. However, Johns message is quite a bit more than that. Not just that we just can have fellowship, but we absolutely must have fellowship, it is the core of how the church will be advanced.
I hope you enjoyed looking at some of the core competencies of true fellowship with believers. Next we are moving on to a 7-day look at the “Habits of Holiness” invites out later today…
Devotional Point 4 today: The truth is that we talk about what we love the most.
Scripture 4 today: “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5 NIV
Reflection 4 today: We all look forward to parts of the future based on hope. Hope that our jobs will work well, that they continue to pay well and last for a long time. Hope that our marriages and children will work out well, and hope that our presence in the community is beneficial. But that is all it is, hope… With the power of the Holy Spirit inside us, it is a lot more than worldly hope, His love is poured out on us, not dribbled out, poured out…
Devotional Point 4 today: on the fellowship or intimacy level, the believer needs daily foot washing…
Scripture 4 today: ““No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” John 13:8 NIV
Reflection 4 today: this is needed for foot washing was a daily fact of life in Jesus time. No one looked at anyone else and said how did your feet get so dirty? Everyone wore sandals and walked on unpaved footpaths and everyone’s feet got very dirty every day. We live in an unpaved footpath that dirties us up just by being there. In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus gave us specific daily direction in regard to this. We need to daily confess our sins and daily forgive those who sin against us. Foot washing…
Devotional Point 4 today: From security to significance; from love to admiration; from acceptance to approval…
Scripture 4 today: “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:8-9 NIV
Reflection 4 today: we were born with a sin nature. The great thing for us as Christians is that we have a way to deal with that rather than it enslaving us forever. Problem with the world is that it is completely enslaved to sin can’t not do it. In the last 50 years we have witnessed a complete shift in the world we live in to deny the fact that sin either exists or that we even participate in it. John simple tells us that this is pure and simple deception, especially as the foundation of Fellowship is truth.
We start this new series of “Maximum Joy” looking at the core of where it comes from…
Devotional Point 4 today: All of us desire to be in a relationship. It is the way we were created.
Scripture 4 today: “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” 1 John 4:16 NIV
Reflection 4 today: knowing and relying on God’s love is something that takes quite a long time and quite a lot of dedicated effort. longer and deeper Love is Love that can be relied on. This concept of how to “rely“ on love is something we have to give some really focused consideration to. You rely on your friends because you know they will come through for you. The more you do the more you know. The Holy Spirit inside us wants us to know every day just how much we can rely on him for everything.
