Listening to God in a Time of Crisis

Day 4

Day 4 ends this series where life for us works: with the Holy Spirit!!!

Devotional Point 4 today: it’s through the Holy Spirit that we can encounter Jesus directly…

Scripture 4 today: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NIV

Reflection 4 today: fortunately we do not have to do or be anything special the get the full measure of the Holy Spirit inside us, it comes when we give our lives to Christ… The work and total transformation that occurs as a result of the work of the Holy Spirit in us is what we are to be witnesses of. part of the very fibre of our being is to be filled with overflowing joy at the incredible things the Holy Spirit has done, that overflowing joy is the witness. No joy, no witness…

Other Notes: I hope you have enjoyed these 4 days with Nicky and Bobby on listening to God. Nicky is hosting the HTB Leadership Conference next week, it is live and free on the web, hope you all can attend… Tomorrow we will start another short 5 day plan, this one on time and productivity, invites out later today…

Day 3

Day 3 bring forward 2 of the most important and most misunderstood verses in the New Testament…

Devotional Point 4 today: People are looking for love…

Scripture 4 today: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

Reflection 4 today: Definitely 2 of my most favourite verses, quote them all the time. But I think the best part, which doesn’t translate into English well is that “go” actually should be translated “as you are going”, in whatever you are doing. it is not a thing we do, it is a thing we are. And it is part of all we do, not a separate or distinct activity that needs to be called out and focused on and inspected. it is the byproduct of our daily walk with God…

Day 2

Day 2 gives us God’s plan for His church, unity…

Devotional Point 4 today: if the church is not united, the world won’t believe…

Scripture 4 today: “that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:21 NIV

Reflection 4 today: Jesus didn’t talk about unity per se, He didn’t use those words, but He used a picture which could be described as unity, but is far more than that. The Church has confused unity with uniformity and conformity, but it is neither and never has been. The other amazing thing is that He is saying that this unity we are to have is what will cause non-believers to believe, it is a primary force for evangelism, as such, you would have thought we would give more weight to it…

Day 1

Day 1 reminds us of the fundamental reason Jesus came, 4 things…

Devotional Point 4 today: God has placed us here in this moment…

Scripture 4 today: ““The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,” Luke 4:18 NIV

Reflection 4 today: The concept of listening to God is all about listening to what He is actually saying. These 4 things are the 4 things that Jesus came to “liberate” us from. Yes we need to have liberation from sin as a foundation block to it all, but these 4 things are the foundation of the “good news”, it would be stupid to divorce these things from the salvation message, as they are all part of the same message. Stripping them out has caused the church to lose its way big time…
