Finishing Well-Part 3

Day 5

Day 5 gives us the secret for how best to allow the work of the Holy Spirit in your heart: hide His word there…

Devotional Point 4 today: Spiritual authority is derived from intimacy with Jesus and walking in obedience in His Spirit…

Scripture 4 today: “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalms 119:11 NIV

Reflection 4 today: Spending time in God’s word is an incredibly spiritual thing that cannot be explained by anything Man can come up with. When it is in an d on your heart, it speaks to your heart without you having to do anything, it happens all by itself. What doesn’t happen all by itself is the putting it on your heart. As we do that, when we place the context and position alongside it through study and meditation, it comes alive all on its own…

Question for the day: What are you placing on your heart today?

Day 4

Day 4 gives us important insight in the God’s plan for each us, the Holy Spirit…

Devotional Point 4 today: He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Scripture 4 today: “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13 NIV

Reflection 4 today: I grew up in a time in Christianity when the Holy Spirit was not even acknowledged, but thankfully the world got over that. We see the power of His role when we look at the first 2 chapters of Acts, where we see that the Apostles learned more about their mission in a couple of days than they did during their entire time with Jesus. He is ready to give us “all truth” if we are ready to receive it and act on it…

Question for the day: Is there anything stopping you from listening to the Holy Spirit today?

Day 3

Day 3 gives us the foundation for the winning of the battles we face, they are not of this world…

Devotional Point 4 today: every sin begins with a single thought

Scripture 4 today: “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 NIV

Reflection 4 today: historically the weapons in Satan’s arsenal are: deceit, lies, subterfuge, guile, intimidation, compulsion, and force. I have our “modern world” we had dismissed “force” as irrelevant until this Ukrainian situation, but it is still out there. But there are dozens of books written on each of these other issues, most legitimising them and giving us “strategies” to live with them. But that is not our mission. We are to destroy them using the power of the Holy Spirit. Destroy, not live with…

Question for the day: what do you need to destroy today?

Day 2

Day 2 gives us the single thing that makes life work for us-the heart…

Devotional Point 4 today: There is no safe place that we can attain and remain “fixed” and free from deception.

Scripture 4 today: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Reflection 4 today: We were given individual instruction to do this. Because it is an individual responsibility that cannot be compromised. You cannot blame anyone for what is on your heart. You can however take some very specific steps to ensure the right things are on your heart. And even then you need to make daily choices in each thing you think about and each thing you say and do, because it is a matter of continual choices…

Day 1

Day 1 gives us clear direction on all the data we will encounter today: “see to it”…

Devotional Point 4 today: Our eyes don’t create, they respond…

Scripture 4 today: “See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.” Luke 11:35 NIV

Reflection 4 today: this is an incredibly interesting command by Jesus that we are too “see to it“ that the “light“ inside us is actually light and not darkness. He is certainly addressing a group of people who might have confused this, and he made it very simple for them. Without any structured spiritual disciplines, that “light“ inside us is simply the summation of the forces the environment we are in has had on us. Jesus makes it very simple, make sure that the “light“ inside you is based on the truth…

Question for the day: Is that light inside you based on the truth? Something I have to ask myself every day…
