Finishing Well-Biblical Success

Tomorrow:

Day 3

Day 3 finishes off with the foundation for fellowship, walking in the light…

Devotional Point 4 today: Winners Develop and Maintain Open and Accountable Relationships

Scripture 4 today: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 NIV

Reflection 4 today: The Greek pronoun for “one another” is about 2-parties, us and God, a very misunderstood verse. And the Greek for purifies, is “keeps on purifying”, once we accepted Christ and went of the path of “The Way” we were cleansed, but our core sin nature needs continual cleansing. But with a deep relationship with the Holy Spirit of “light”, we have a foundation for fellowship with others, Christian and non-Christian, which enables them to know Christ by our love…

Other Notes: I hope you have enjoyed this short 3-day blast in the “finishing well”, we are on to another one in this series, Part 3, invites out later today…

Day 2

Day 2 gives us the one behaviour that makes things work for us as Christians, self-discipline…

Devotional Point 4 today: Self discipline is all about our choices…

Scripture 4 today: ““I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.” 1 Corinthians 6:12 NIV

Reflection 4 today: The world we live in has no bounds and no boundaries, literally anything goes… The problem of course is that before we met Christ, we were enslaved by the things of the world, and if you dive back into them you will be enslaved by them just like you were before, and what would be the point of that??? Essentially, anything that we willing indulge in that takes our eyes off Jesus will enslave us, and that is exactly what Satan wants, to take us out of the “race”…

Day 1

The message on day 1 of this devotional is that this world and all that is in it is not our home…

Devotional Point 4 today: heaven is our home…

Scripture 4 today: “Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.” 1 Peter 2:11 NIV

Reflection 4 today: earlier in the chapter, Peter defined what those passions were that need to be “put away”. He listed them as “malice,” “deceit,” “hypocrisy,” “envy,” and “slander”. To do these requires no effort on our parts, they are the components of our natural state, this is what the world does all the time, because they can’t help it. Without the Holy Spirit working in our lives, this was our natural state, but he changes this out in us a little more each day!!!

Question for the day: What does He want you to “put away” today?
