You on Purpose

Day 7

Devotional Point 4 today: we only have the present…

Scripture 4 today: “Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” ‭‭James‬ ‭4:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today: I’ve come across and incredible number of Christians who are looking for some bolt from the sky with regards to ultimate plan in front of them  for them to carry out on their own, but that’s not the way God works. His plan for our lives it’s something that is revealed new each and every day. The overall plan is the weaving together of all of those little things that he has us working on each day. So the question isn’t what is the big plan? It is what is today’s plan?

Question for the day: Where has God placed you? And what do you think the reason is for that?

Other Notes: I hope you have enjoyed the last 7 days to focus on purpose, next I thought we would spend a few weeks looking deeply at prayer, invites out later today…

Day 6

Day 6 delivers the most important thing about the “good news” we have heard: do what it says…

Devotional Point 4 today: try things…

Scripture 4 today: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1:22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today: One of the commentators I read on this, Wiersbe, said: “Too many Christians mark their Bibles, but their Bibles never mark them! When you are marked by the Scriptures, causes you to do things. It causes you to faithfully study the word, faithfully do the things in it, and faithfully build a ministry. Most of Christianity sits around the edges and doesn’t actually do anything. Today each of us can put an end to that…

Question for the day: What is one action you can take today to step onto the path of God’s calling for you?

Day 5

Day 5 gives us the foundation for our decision making, the security of being in the family, so matter what we do, we are always going to be in the family…

Devotional Point 4 today: any one decision by itself won’t determine the final outcome…

Scripture 4 today: “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today: decision making is quite a bit easier when you suck fear out of the equation. Difficulty for most of us is that a fear of getting it wrong has dominated quite a bit of our lives.  So Paul wants to make a point here that we are not just some random creatures cruising around trying to impress God, but we are “full“ Sons and daughters of the King. Gives us all of the freedom we need to look at what is the best decision, because there is no fear in getting it wrong.

Question for the day: How does the your status in the “family” affect your decision making?

Day 4

Day 4 delivers the key for defeating the flesh, just walk in the Spirit, you will win every time!!!

Devotional Point 4 today: ask Him to reveal His desires for you…

Scripture 4 today: “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today: we live in a world that stresses the focus of positive mental attitude and “trying really hard“ to fix our problems. However the “flesh“ is not something that can be thought out of existence. If we are doing something wrong, it is pointless to focus on trying to “fix” the wrong thing. What is important is to walk in the Spirit and let the Spirit knock off all the sharp edges. In my case there have been an awful lot of sharp edges, but they have been knocked off by the Spirit, not by me trying really hard.

Question for the day: what sharp edges do you need the Spirit to knock off?

Day 3

Day 3 gives us the Great to hear from you foundation key to knowing our purposes in life: guard your heart…

Devotional Point 4 today: You’re not striving to become a “better you”…

Scripture 4 today: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today: One thing about God’s purposes for us is that they have a beginning, middle and end. And then a next… But to get to the end of any of them the way He wants for us, is to seek first His Kingdom and righteousness, Matt 6:33. So, guarding your heart is 2 things, what you don’t allow in, and then what you pour in. The best way to limit the damage of the world’s pouring into us through TV and the news is to pour in “God Content”, all we can get our hands on…

Question for the day: what are you pouring into your heart today? All I can get hold of…

Day 2

Devotional Point 4 today: When you pursue purpose first, it’s more likely that you’ll find satisfaction…

Scripture 4 today: “But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today: Unfortunately the “Broadcast Cycle” of the church for the last 65 years has destroyed the concept of the body of Christ, brilliant ploy by Satan… It is incredibly sobering to realise that God has himself placed every single one of us where He wants us, and it is then up to each of us to make that work. We have a huge responsibility in this, especially the responsibility to make things work and not criticise those who we don’t think are rowing in the right direction. If you don’t like it, take it up with God…

Question for the day: What connection might you expect to find between happiness and fulfillment?

Day 1

Day 1 of our new series about our purpose starts with the most fundamental of truths: God’s promises are unchangable…

Devotional Point 4 today: Your calling won’t be revealed to you in one flash of insight…

Scripture 4 today: “for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭11:29‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Reflection 4 today: God’s gifts to us, and His call on us are irrevocable, they cannot be withdrawn form us and they can not be taken away. That does not mean they are always there. Because we can certainly mollify them through sin and rebellion. We are called to be Talidim, disciples, not just mere Christians with a fire insurance policy from Hell. So the task of fully realising our potential as Talidim is something we can depend on and live for…

Question for the day: How are you feeling about your future?
